The Good, Do-won (JUNG Woo-sung) is a bounty hunter who tracks down criminals with rewards on their heads. The Bad, Chang-yi (LEE Byung-hun) is the leader of a group of bandits and can't stand to be second best. The Weird, Tae-goo (SONG Kang-ho) is a train robber with nine lives. The three strangers engage in a chase across Manchuria to take possession of a map Tae-goo discovers while robbing the train. Also on the hunt for the mysterious map, are the Japanese army and Asian bandits. In this unpredictable, escalating battle for the map, who will stand in the end as the winner? Fees: $3 for guests/free for members Saturday, May 8, 2010 May Outdoor Group Activity Hiking Castlewood Canyon Time: 3:00 pm Location: Castlewood Canyon State Park Franktown, Colorado (just south of Parker off Hwy 83) 2989 South Highway 83; Franktown, CO US Host: Mark Gerardy Hiking with afterward meal (either onsite picnic / lunch or dinner at a nearby restaurant). Just like being up in the mountains, with all of the natural beauty of the mountains, with a much shorter drive. Castlewood Canyon is a short 45-minute drive from Denver to Castlewood Canyon. From Parker Road /(a.k.a. Hwy 83) turn into the East Entrance to Castlewood Canyon. The Park charges $6 per vehicle, so this is a great opportunity to save the environment and save money creating your own group rate and pack as many members and guests as you can in your car. Right there in the same building where you pay admission is also the Visitor’s Center, and there is parking just on the other side. We will meet at 3:00 pm at the Castlewood Canyon Visitor’s Center, and they have a really nice 13-minute well-done film about the Canyon (including old footage from the August 1933 Denver flood). About 3:30 pm or shortly thereafter, then we will head to Canyon Point Parking Lot to start the hike. Since this is down a little way, I recommend driving to the very end where a huge parking lot opens up. This is past the Bridge Overlook, Bridge Canyon, Canyon View and Juniper Rock parking lots, way down West as far as you can go on the Park road. From the Canyon Point Parking Lot starts the Lake Gulch (L), Dam (H), and Inner Canyon (K) trails. Starting around 3:45 pm we can anticipate the hike taking about 1 to 2 hours, depending upon everyone’s pace. Afterwards many of us will have worked up an appetitive and August Moon is waiting for us just down the street.
